Directed Writing
You will be asked to make an argument (often in the form of a letter or article). Often you’ll be asked to identify and evaluate arguments and then to give your view on which side is stronger. It’s usually best to first identify and evaluate, and then to state which side you believe has the stronger argument. Voice, audience, register and purpose - you must keep these things in mind. Tether your response to the test - it is a test of reading, not of your general knowledge. You do not necessarily need to quote directly from the text.

You will be able to write either a descriptive piece or a narrative piece based on a provided prompt. The maximum overall mark for the Composition is 25. Up to 13 marks are available for the content and structure of your piece, and the remaining 12 marks for your style and accuracy.
